Following an academic exchange agreement that was put in place between the American Graduate School in Paris (AGS) and the University of Siena, students in the M.A. in International Relations and Diplomacy program at AGS may spend one semester at the University of Siena in Siena, in Italy and transfer the credits back to AGS. The courses taken at the University of Siena are in the disciplines of International Relations and Law (see list below). They are taught in English, so there is no need for the student to have any previous knowledge of the Italian language. Students wishing to take advantage of this opportunity to learn the language may take additional courses in Italian.

Founded in 1240, the University of Siena is one of the oldest universities in Italy. It has nine faculties, covering disciplines ranging from Law to Economics to Political Science to Medicine and Physics.

This exchange program is a way for students at the American Graduate School in Paris to enhance their international experience and to diversify their academic background, while earning credits toward their US-accredited Master's program.

Each student’s curriculum has to be individually determined in concertation with the Academic Coordinator at the American Graduate School in Paris in order to ensure that it properly complements the student’s particular set of required and elective courses to earn the Master's degree. Below is the list of courses pre-approved for transfer that can be taken at the University of Siena. These courses are taught in English. Alternatively, students with a sufficient knowledge of Italian may apply for other courses from the University of Siena's curriculum on a case-by-case basis.

The University of Siena offers on-campus housing in shared studio apartments, at a cost of 235 Euros per month.

No additional tuition is charged to students from the American Graduate School in Paris for their semester at the University of Siena. The tuition for the semester abroad is the same as the tuition for a regular semester at AGS, and payable directly to AGS. Note that the following are not included in the tuition fees: travel to and from Siena, on-site transportation, housing, food, textbooks, and any other living expenses.
